VFR virtual flight

VFR virtual flight

This exercise is specifically dedicated to the ICAO standard phraseology. You are the pilot in command and the operational examiner is playing the role of the air traffic controller. You are asked to use standard radiotelephony communication whenever possible. If no standard phraseology is available for the situation, use plain language.

My tips:

  • This exercise is very important to demonstrate your knowledge and ease of utilization of the ICAO standard phraseology.
  • For acronyms and abbreviations, you may be asked to explain their meaning.
  • The virtual flight may include an emergency situation.

Here are two examples of virtual flights. Both contain the sentences spoken by the ATCO. Check your answers with a proposed version of communication between the pilot and the ATC.
