Compass directions can be built in the same way as English:
North west = nord ouest
South east =sud est
Sometimes distances are abbreviated for example:
At 5 NM would be transmitted as “à cinq nautiques”. The word “mille” for mile is dropped
The clock code for relative position can also be used for relative positions:
At 9 o’clock = à neuf heures
