Part 4: Autonomous activities

Things to think about, research and discuss:

  • Have you ever sent a pet / animal to another country by air? If so, explain the circumstances.
  • What would you need to think about if you were doing so?
  • What do you need to think about if you are transporting cargo?
  • What sort of goods are considered “dangerous goods”? What precautions must you take when transporting such goods?
  • Do you think the use of drones for deliveries will become more common in the future? Why (not)?
  • What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of using drones for the delivery of small packages?
  • Do you think drones will ever be used for delivering bigger items? Why (not)?
  • What are the advantages and disadvantages or transporting goods by air?
  • Have you ever flown an aircraft on a cargo flight? If yes, how was this different to other flying you have done? If no, how would you imagine this would be different?
  • Have you ever experienced a customs check as a pilot? If so, explain the circumstances.
  • Have you ever flown with an item which might be considered unusual, bulky or heavy? If so, explain the circumstances. Alternatively, what is the strangest thing you have ever seen another passenger take onto an aeroplane?
  • Have you ever taken a musical instrument or piece of sports equipment on a plane? If so, what was it? Where were you going? What problems did this cause?
