Part 4: Autonomous activities
Things to think about, research and discuss:
- Have you ever been on a flight when passengers have behaved badly? If so, what were the circumstances? How did the cabin crew react? Do you think the incident was dealt with effectively?
- What is your opinion of airport and airline security?
- What do you think about the practice of strapping unruly passengers to their seats?
- Do you know of any incidents in which excessive force has been used with unruly passengers? If so, what were the circumstances?
- Do you think armed air marshals are a good idea? Why (not)?
- Do you worry more about security issues in aviation now than in the past? Why (not)?
- What do you think are the most significant security issues in aviation today?
- At which airport (or with which airline) have you encountered the strictest security measures? Describe them.
- Have you ever experienced a police check as a pilot? What happened?
- Has your aircraft ever been searched by customs?
- If, “There are two kinds of pilots: those who have experienced clear air turbulence and those that will”, which kind are you?
- Have you encountered turbulence more generally as a pilot and / or passenger? What were the circumstances? How long did it last? How did you react?
- Have you ever needed to use the oxygen masks during a flight? If so, what were the circumstances?
